7 Green Ideas That Are Way Out There

Here are some green or other colored ways of producing power in a green conscious fashion. Remember going to the doctor, being handed a cup and pointed to the bathroom? Well now that you have your aim down, you can fill your own cups and use the energy produced by it. This concept hasn’t quite come to fruition yet but it’s well digested and in the process.

Remember the watch that recharged itself with the movement of your wrist? If it ran down you would just need to shake your wrist a bit to get it back to running again? Well, the Kinetic Energy band works basically on the same principle, the difference is that you are producing energy by your movements that is stored within the device to later be used to charge such things as cell phones.

Now your breasts can do so much more than attract the opposite sex! With this bit of lingerie you will not only be able to attract them, you will be able to give them a message in plain English! A portion of this little device wraps around the cups of the bra and powers a little display screen that will run messages across it.

Maxwell Smart would love this shoe that works by the kinetic energy caused by walking, a little battery is charged that powers a little headlight at the front of your shoe. Hint, if you’re trying to be sneaky, don’t wear this shoe!

Manuel Perez Prada of Germany produced a device that uses the movement of the human body to create light. It is versatile enough to strap on different parts of your body and will produce enough light to not only let you see, but make you visible to others at night.

Ever been told to ‘go fly a kite’? now, thanks to Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands,  you soon will be able to fly a kite that could produce enough energy to help you run your home.

The East Japan Railway Company is developing an embedded system that collects energy from the action of walking over it, this will be used to run their railways.

55 MPG And It’s Not A Hybrid!

green guide,fuel savers

Have you seen the Volkswagen commercials?  They are great- always clever and one step up on the competition’s ad campaign.  Now, Volkswagen has another thing to add to their list of accomplishments.  Maybe you will see a commercial about it in the near future!

The new VW Jetta is also available in an environmentally friendly, clean diesel option.  And, according to reports, the Jetta TDI Diesel topped the Prius in fuel economy.  The Jetta TDI has a 2.0-liter engine.  It runs on 140 hp and 236 lb-ft. of torque.  This is the first vehicle available that actually meets California’s strict emission standards.  Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen developed the emission-cleansing technologies and they are legal in all 50 states.

Many people who have test-driven or own the vehicle claim to love who smoothly it drives and operates on the road.  The TDI is more powerful and it allows you to accelerate when you need to.  And, you will have a hard time even noticing the engine because it is so quiet.

Probably the BEST thing about this vehicle is gets an estimated 55 MPG!!!  For the average driver, this means you would probably visit the pump less than 20 times a year.  Imagine that!  All this and it is not even a hybrid!

Common Sense Tips To Save Fuel

green guide,fuel savers

The cost of fuel has come down a little bit in the last year.  I can remember when it was slightly over 5 dollars a gallon in some areas.  Despite the drop in price per gallon, it still hurts a little bit every time you have to pay for gas given the nature of the economy.  And, unfortunately, fuel is not really an item you can cutback on.  However, there are common things that you can do to save yourself some money on the cost of fuel

First, make sure you car is serviced regularly.  If your car does not receive the scheduled maintenance that it needs, chances are it will not perform at its peak efficiency level.  The engine could be inefficient.  Or, you could need a new air filter.  You never know until you get your car serviced.

Next, consider driving differently.  Avoid the urge to put the pedal to the medal.  Try to drive as smoothly as possibly and work on accelerating slowly.

You are going to waste gas when your car is on and it is not moving anywhere.  If possible, avoid driving in traffic.  And, do not stay in your car when it is running.

Lastly, plan ahead.  Combine your trips, especially if you are doing errands around town.

Nissan’s New Technology Can Help You Save Fuel

One of the first things most people look at today when they are shopping for a new car is the information posted on the side of the car that displays the estimated mileage.  After all, the mileage is a major factor in the price of the car – especially with the high cost of fuel these days.  If you are looking for a car that will save you money on fuel, you might want to check out Nissan’s new technology.

Nissan conducted an 8-month study to see how motorists could lower their fuel expenses and decrease carbon dioxide emissions.  The study was called, The Nissan Intelligent Driver Project, and it used the technology of satellite navigation systems, mobile phones and advanced vehicle telematics to determine the driving habits of motorists and then suggest a result that would lower fuel costs.

From the data compiled, Nissan is using this to make more fuel-efficient cars.  Experts say it is a more intelligent approach to fuel efficiency.  However, they also caution that the fuel savings have a lot to do with the person behind the wheel.  And, while the goal is to reduce carbon dioxide, they also want consumers to be more intelligent when driving.
