A Beginners Guide To Biodiesel
First of all, you need to have a diesel engine vehicle. Regular gasoline engines are not built to burn this type of substance. It appears most diesel vehicles can be turned into bio-diesel vehicles. If you live in colder climates you will want to get an engine blanket, solidified bio-diesel isn’t going to start anything but frustration. There are modifications you can get for your vehicle but you shouldn’t need them.
Then next thing is your bio-fuel, where to get it and how to process it before using it. There are many fast food vendors that would be more than happy to empty their used oil tanks for you. This saves them the expense of disposal. Visit your local fast food establishments and see if you can strike up a deal with them on their used oil. You’ll need some kind of barrels or drums to drain it into so be prepared with those. Filtering can be a messy job. There are filters designed for this available for purchase, or you can use a tight fiber cloth, filtering the oil multiple times to remove the small food particles.
Finally, after filtering the oil well, you are ready to put it into your tank and burn it. This may take more time than stuffing a pump into your tank but think of the money you will save and the environmentally sound practice you have undertaken.
