Going Green At Work – Encouraging Your Company To Adopt Environmental Policies

The business where you work is probably much more wasteful than your home. Consider all of the copy paper that goes in the trash; the documents that are no longer needed, the copies made in error, copies that are no longer needed, etc., and that is just the paper use.

What about the lights that stay on all day, are they efficient lights? Do you have machines on that stay on all day with very little use? How do you use your environmental controls? Cutting down on air conditioning and using fans more can not only be an environmentally green thing to do, it can also save the company money. This doesn’t mean being uncomfortably warm or cold, it just means combine your heating and cooling with fans that help move the air around.

Does your company have a fleet of company vehicles? Higher fuel efficiency is also a way for your company to be green and save money.  Also, using green cleaning products is probably the first step to helping your office to become more environmentally friendly.

If you take some time and think about the company you work for, you will be able to find many different ways for it to have an environmentally greener footprint. If approached with respect and concern, you may be able to convince the company you work for to take a greener approach to many of the things they do.
